Alcohol free egg-nog

All the taste and even more fun! Going alcohol-free couldn't be easier! For all those who want to keep it straight during the holidays and eat clean, give this alcohol-free eggnog recipe a try.

1. Increase the holiday feeling with holiday flavours and scents.

The flavours of the holidays like nutmeg and cinnamon, cloves and ginger smell like heaven and are warming in nature. Here’s how to get the holiday feeling at home.

  • It’s a creamy and delicious way to start the day and put a smile on your face.

  • Take cinnamon sticks, orange skins, vanilla and nutmeg in a big pot of water. As it simmers, the smells waft through your home. MMMMnn.

  • The smells of spice, ginger, cinnamon, vanilla and pumpkin will certainly give you’re the cosy feels for winter.

2. Drinking raw eggs.

Yes, the eggs in eggnog are always raw, this is why you should use very fresh eggs and egg yolks in your mix. Imagine the days of Arnold Schwarzenegger downing a blender full of raw eggs! LOL. Eggs have a special taste which gives eggnog its flavour and we actually crave it during the holiday season. It also allows the shake to thicken while chilling in the refrigerator giving it that amazing shake texture.

3. Going alcohol free. A new trend.

Have you noticed that “going Alcohol-Free,” also known as “AF,” is becoming an international trend. This goes beyond the Dry January and multiple online groups are popping up these days with 10 to 30-Day Alcohol-Free challenges. I encourage you to try a challenge… at least for 10-15 days to contrast how your body works with and without alcohol. You might be surprised±

Also, there’s a trend in alcohol-free spirits that are served up in gorgeous bottles so you can look trendy without getting loopy.  Check out :

  • Seedlip Grove 42 with citrus and touch of ginger, served neat or over ice.
  • Caleno 'Juniper & Inca Berry' Non-Alcoholic Free Spirit for an alternative G&T
  • Martini Non-alcoholic Vibrante for a colourful red and strong smelling version of vermouth.

We recommend you let the eggnog chill for 15-30 minutes to have the chilly filling of a deliciously thick eggnog. For an extra festive touch… add a sprinkle of cinnamon on top and a cinnamon stick to decorate the glass.

Makes about 3 portions

Ingredients:

  • 3 fresh eggs
  • 250 ml almond milk (or 1% skimmed cow’s milk)
  • Nutmeg to taste
  • 1 dash of rum flavouring to taste
  • 2 scoops Complete by Juice Plus+ Vanilla

Method:

  • Take 3 super fresh eggs. Whisk the eggs together in a separate bowl.
  • Heat 250 ml of almond milk in a saucepan.
  • Slowly “temper” the eggs by adding a small spoonful of the hot milk to the eggs and whisking one at a time. (Note: if you add the eggs to the hot milk too quickly, you will get scrambled eggs!!)
  • Once the temperature of eggs has been warmed with the hot milk, pour in the remaining slightly cooled milk and stir.
  • Add the nutmeg, rum flavouring and Complete by Juice Plus+ Vanilla powder.
  • Mix together then serve.
